Coldplay and other goodies…
So I mentioned in my last post on the subject that I wasn’t really one for concerts. I haven’t been to many at all (I think maybe 6 or so) and while they were good… I didn’t find them great. And I don’t know, that might be just me… while I’ve been fans of the bands I saw, I don’t know all their songs, for starters, so maybe I just can’t appreciate them like I ought to. I thought they put on decent shows but I didn’t think they were anything spectacular.
And maybe it was, as I’ve said, because I’m a *big* fan of Coldplay and know all their songs. Or maybe it was because the audience was really into it and were singing along. Or maybe it was just that they were THAT GOOD. I’ll tell you, honestly? This is the best concert I’ve ever been to. Ever. Chris Martin is almost mad scientist crazy, jumping and running all over the stage, bouncing as he was jamming on the piano… but he’s just so talented, it’s amazing watching him play. They played all the right songs, adlibbed and drove the crowd wild – it was fantastic. There was a moment, during the song “Yellow” where there were giant yellow balls bouncing around all the crowd, the stage was bright and matched the title of the song, the music was stopped and *everyone* was singing along to the lyrics… I don’t think it gets better than that. Okay, maybe the cell phone wave was pretty sweet too.
So yeah, it’s safe to say I had a great time. I managed to seriously freak out the girl next to me, because I was so thrilled to be there – I just couldn’t stay sitting down during their songs so I’d jump out of my chair, bounce up and down, hoot and holler nice and loud. She was trying to record the show on her camera phone and I’m sure I ruined it but honestly… it’s part of the reason why I’m glad I didn’t bring my camera. Even though the pics might have come out better, I would’ve spent more time trying to get a good picture instead of actually enjoying the show. Oh and as we were walking out, they were giving out the free EP “Left Right Left Right Left”, which is 9 of their songs sung live (which, btw, you can download it for free off their website), which I thought was awesome. I’ve been listening to it all day, cranked up nice and loud… it almost lets me think I’m back there.
During the song “Yellow”, you can see the bright lights on the stage and the yellow balls bouncing throughout the crowd. Even though it looks like you can’t see the stage or the band, trust me – I totally could.
I want to say that this is during “Fix You” but I’m not sure. Obviously our seats weren’t the best but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it!
So you can see how packed it was… so many people that were singing along. It was great!Okay I’ll stop raving. I just can’t get over it… and to think that until about a week and a half ago, I wasn’t even going to go… I’m so glad I went. Oh and P.S. I had no idea who the opening act was, so I got so excited when the very first act (Howling Bells) announced that coming up next was Snow Patrol… I’ve liked them since I heard them on Grey’s Anatomy and was thrilled, what a great bonus!
In other exciting news I managed to get wind of that Six Flags twitter deal and so I bought two tickets at $10 each to visit Fiesta Texas. It’s somewhere I wanted to go before I left San Antonio, since I’ve never been, so I’m excited. And finally, my co-workers and I bought tickets to see Wicked in a few weeks. So much to do… I’m feeling so happy about it all!
Meanwhile my 365 picture (below) doesn’t reflect any of that because I’m exhausted from last night . I just grabbed the first thing I could think of that I thought might make an interesting picture (I love macros and trying for bokeh). Oh well, lol!
