School’s out for summer!

163/365 - Celebrate! As you might remember, the last day of classes for the kids was last Friday, the 5th… but this past week was teacher workdays.  And as I believe I said, usually teachers don’t have to work for 5 full days after classes are over.  1 or maybe even 2 days, usually to pack up the classroom, turn in supplies and meet with the principal for evaluations… some schools only have maybe one half day… but I’ve never had 5 full days.  We were told we would have meetings and trainings, that we would be busy.

We were lied to.

Seeing as how I finished packing up during after school care on the last day of classes, I was done cleaning up my classroom by 8:10am on Monday morning.  The rest of the week hasn’t been spent in trainings or meetings, it’s been sitting around the classroom doing nothing.  Okay, there was one day where we had to do a campus improvement plan for next year but it didn’t even take the full day. We weren’t given any other instructions, no agendas, no one really talked to us or told us what to do… so we didn’t do anything.   Suffice it to say, it’s been a LONG week and co-workers who I’ve usually been fond of have started grating on my nerves.

Anyway, it’s pretty safe to say I was looking forward to the last day getting here.  Today I got my teacher evaluation for the year and was very pleased… this was by far the best evaluation I’ve gotten, lots of Exceeds Expectations, which was awesome!  Yay!  Then we had a baby shower for one of the other teachers (which is what the project 365 picture for today is from) and then… that’s it!

I’m officially unemployed.  Oh crap!  I’m moving in 2 weeks to Houston and have applied to several districts, and even specifically to specific openings at schools but I have yet to hear anything.  I think I’m about to start getting nervous.

But not yet.  Right now I have to focus on why my apartment smells a bit funny.  I think a cleaning is long overdue. :p
