Happy day!

Wheee!  I can now say that I am set!   My dad and I went and picked up a DVR through the local cable company – an extra $20 a month that I’ll have to shell out to my parents but totally worth the money.  I didn’t know how I would live without the DVR.  Best invention ever.  I really wanted a Tivo but I wasn’t willing to splurge and pay over $150 (plus their monthly fees) for one.  Although, now that I think about it, in the long run it might have been more cost efficient to go with the Tivo.  Dang it.  Oh well, it’s not like I have $150 just lying around.

Anyway, since setting up the DVR, it has fixed the issues with the TV (the basic cable channels were horribly static-y, and one channel in particular had volume issues), plus I was able to program the remote to work with all my appliances.  All by myself too.  :) Now I have 1 remote that operates the TV, DVR and DVD player (I never knew you could add the DVD player to it!).  I can now control the world from my bed.

Meanwhile I’m looking forward to the day when all this working out stops hurting so much.  Today I woke up and my legs were wobbly, my abs ached and my arms were sore.  This afternoon at the gym I worked on my biceps and triceps and then tomorrow “I’m allowed” to go take a yoga class.  I mean, he gave me the weekend off but I asked if I could do yoga and he said yes, just no weight training (you don’t have to tell me twice)… although I’m not sure if I have the guts to go to the yoga class.  Having never done yoga, I’m sure I’ll look like a complete fool.

And in even happier news… my regular trainer didn’t work today so he got a different trainer to help me work through my weight training.  Oh my, he was fun.  Super cute, my age, and I enjoyed chatting with him, during all the pain… and since he kept losing count of how many reps I was doing, I take it he enjoyed chatting with me.  It kinda makes the hurting almost okay when there’s a cute trainer going “okay pretty girl, do one more rep for me”. (Mmmm, okay, whatever you say…).  Ahhh.  He says he’s looking for another job though so he’s not long for my gym.  Bummer.

  • Ha ha, he DID give me his number! Too scared to call it though...

Hee hee, love my DVR too. I hated saying goodbye to it when I moved, I had good stuff on there. I think.
  • Aww cute trainer? Perfect! Maybe he'll quit his job there but before he does he'll get your number...

I looooove yoga! It's the one thing I'm really sad that my regular gym doesn't have. I adore yoga classes. I think I might take classes at a regular yoga studio though, just so I can take yoga classes. Videos just aren't the same.

Is this your first time having a DVR? It's impossible for me to live without one now. It's not a luxury. It's a necessity.

  • Ha ha, maybe.

I'm so tickled about the yoga classes, I liked it. I want to try the pilates class next, but we'll see.

No, I've had a DVR for the past few years and I love it. It is totally a necessity.
  • I really want to try yoga, it sounds really good. But I'm scared to try it on my own...so tell us how it goes!
    .-= Bluebelle´s last blog ..I just made a mess and I am HAPPY =-.
  • Oooh you should go! It was good, I liked it. It was a lot of slow moving, stretching and breathing. Very relaxing and I can see how it could be beneficial, in many ways. I look forward to going again!

Oh and don't be scared of going alone - I think most instructors (mine did anyway) ask who's never done yoga before, then she shows different ways of doing a pose so that if you're "new", you can still do it.

I couldn't live without my DVR! So glad you got yours all set-up. I would love to get a Tivo one day. I've heard you can fast forward through commercials while watching live TV & it will record shows that it thinks you might like based on the shows you record. One day hopefully, fingers crossed, the Tivo will be mine! LOL....I think you should take the yoga class. A lot of people praise it for making their bodies leaner & stronger.
  • Oooh yes, there seems to be so many cool thing about Tivo! I really wish I could have gotten one, in fact I was talking to my dad about it and doing some more research but it's just such a hassle. Maybe when I get my own apartment, after I've saved up some money, I'll get one.

Here's hoping yoga helps me that way then!

Good on you for setting up all your couch-potato accessories to work together.
About the gym... let me see... what could I say about that...
  • Ha ha.

Get his number, girl! Ya never know.

    Unless you're not single? I don't remember.
  • Hee hee, I DID get his number! He put it in my workout book, "in case I need to ask him a gym-related question".

I just don't have the guts to call it!

That's so weird that he is making you work out everyday. Knowing what I know about working out, you HAVE to give your body a break, time for it to recover. Really, you should only work out 3 days a week.

Oh, and as my husband ALWAYS tells me. Working should never stop hurting. If it stops hurting, you have to up your weight and/or reps. So, I will play the devil's advocate for you. ;)
  • Oh no, he's not making me work out every day. I have the weekend off, I just want to go do yoga because I've always wanted to try to get into it. I'm not sure how many days he'll make me work out next week... I wanna say 3 but I'm not sure.

Well I think the trainer that I talked to today says that yeah, it'll keep hurting but it's more of a burn that happens during/shortly after... not more of this "omg I can barely walk" the next day. Which sucks.
