Bay’s big weekend!

So today marks one month to the day that I moved here.  I had mentioned before that I was concerned about Bay, she was spending a lot of time under the bed and seemed really nervous in general.  But slowly, she’s been coming around and this weekend was the best one yet.

First of all, this week she’s been doing much better in general.  Monday I moved her food and water bowls downstairs and so she’s been out and about more.  During the week, when it’s just her and me, she’ll stay out or hide in her little cave that I made for her… a doorbell will send her running under the bed but beyond that she’s been acting like she’s more comfortable, which is great.

Weekends, however… weekends have always been hard for Bay.  My parents don’t work Friday through Sunday so three days with extra people and noise has been a lot for her to handle.  The first few weekends she spent entirely under the bed, much to my dismay.  This weekend, however, she has been so much more at ease… she’s been coming downstairs while we’ve been eating breakfast, hanging out on the couch while we’re watching TV, playing with the new toy I got her with my parents.. acting like herself again!

Now I’m not saying she’s all settled in… she still hides under the bed for maybe 5 hours a day on the weekends, a little less during the week, but that’s still great – she never used to go downstairs during the daytime at all.  I feel much better about moving here now, seeing my Bay doing so much better.  I hope that within the next month she won’t find the need to hide under the bed at all.. I’m really optimistic about it!

7/25 outtakeA picture of Bay from yesterday.. showing her downstairs, during the daylight!  She’s looking up at my dad, who was teasing her with the toy… I think she’s on to him!

  • glad to hear she's adjusting well...it took a while for my pugs to get used to city life. and the elevator. i used to have to sit down once i got in the elevator since all they really want in life is to be in my lap. they'd climb in, i'd let the doors close, and up/down we'd go! i'm sure just having you around is a comfort to her!

Da-ang... that's clean FLOOR! (lol) And, that's a really nice picture of a pretty darn relaxed cat... Love the little vertical highlights in her eyes, too.

YAY for Bay!! I'm glad she's out & about more. My cats still hide under the bed sometimes. I think cats tend to do what they want, when they want.
  • Aww I'm so happy for Bay! And for you! It really is great news.

Smudge still doesn't really join the world around Mike. She sleeps with me every night tho. So at least it's something.

And Carlisle... Well you couldn't get him to stay away from anyone haha.

Aww my cat always hides under the bed too so I moved her bed there. Most of the time she seems to be happy cause she is purring. I usually end up lifting her into my bed with me.
