Oregon continued

Posted by: curiousillusion on: August 9, 2009

And the trip continues… Saturday we went shopping for my cousin and some last minute wedding things, then a big family dinner, followed by drinks with all the cousins. It was fun and I have a lot of pictures.

Today was the big day, my cousin’s wedding. I wasn’t the bridesmaid or anything but I felt a part of the bridal party, as my cousins wanted me there early to help get the bride ready, etc. That made me feel kinda good. I also helped my aunt set up the centerpieces and she thanked me – she’s letting me stay in her house so I’ve been trying to be a help and not a hindrance this whole time.

The wedding was great – my favorite I’ve been to. I got to talk to some pretty fun new people, including some that are encouraging me to move to Portland, the wedding itself was beautiful and all the family members just made it a great time. Again, I can’t wait to look through the pictures – the whole time we were all joking about which ones were going to end up on facebook (since we’re all on it) and since most of the 14 cousins had cameras, that should make for quite a lot of pictures getting shared. Gotta love technology.

Monday is my last full day here. Sad!

Meanwhile, I’ve been playing with iphones all weekend since my brother and cousins have them – I really want one. Like now. Like, I’m so tempted to just break my contract with Sprint and get one. Really. Bad, yes. But I love it that much and I don’t think that I could wait another year til I get it…

  • I got an iPod touch when I got my new computer, it's pretty similar to an iPhone except in needs a wi-fi connection to access the internet. That's a downfall, but with so many places being wi-fi hotspots these days, it's not really a problem.

Your family sounds like my boyfriends family--whenever a photo-op arose, they'd all pose like mad and say, "profile pic!"
  • I cannot live without my iphone! If you can get out of your contract I would definitely recommend it. I got my bf's old one when he upgraded last year and now I just bought a newer one and I love it. The applications are awesome and the fact that it syncs with my itunes is essential. Plus I loose everything so carrying a cell phone and an ipod wasn't working for me. Now I have all in one. Oh and I also get lost like all the time, and the GPS has gotten me out of some sticky situations.
  • I'm glad that the wedding was great. Can't wait to see the pictures!
  • I won't be able to talk you out of the iPhone... I managed to break my contract on a technicality and I swear, it has CHANGED MY LIFE.
  • Ooh what was the technicality that got you out of your contract?!

I really dreamed about the iphone last night. I think it might change my life too. *Really* thinking about getting it. There's just so many great things about it...
  • The only thing it falls down on is the camera, which is only really good in natural light, but if you're getting an SLR anyway...

I'm in the UK, so probably not much help when it comes to getting out of contracts. Basically they changed one of their terms (to do with international call prices) and that was enough to make my original contract void. Given that I was looking for any excuse by that stage, I jumped at the chance!
  • I agree that the iPhone camera only excels in natural light...but I had the same issue with the camera on my Bold, so it's really more about mobile device cameras, not the iPhone :)
  • Ooh that's good, I'll have to look to see if anything similar is going on with sprint.

You've reminded me of something - I'm very clumsy and terrified of dropping it. I might need to invest in a very good protective case.

Hmmm... but you need to talk to Cute Trainer Guy before you move so that he can move with you.
    Anyway...
Keep having fun... but come back already! :)
  • I love my iPhone. Had the 3G and upgraded to the 3GS which is awesome. You should get one as soon as you can. My bro use to live in Portland and I visited a few times and it's super nice there. I might decide to move out that way next year.

Oh and Shopgirll... How are you a BlackBerry girl when you are still rocking a Motorola Razor? Huh? lol
  • Aww I'm so glad the wedding went well!! And I can't get into iPhones... my sister has one but I hate that it doesn't have keys! I'm definitely more of a blackberry person!!
  • Can't wait to see the pictures!
