Last day in Oregon

Posted by: curiousillusion on: August 10, 2009

Today is my last day in Oregon. More picture opportunities – wr went to see the waterfall near Silverton, I think called Silver Falls. A bit of a hike (cute trainer would be proud, I think), but it let you go behind the waterfall, which was a first for me. I took a few pics that I like, can’t wait to put them up.

After that, I just ran some errands with my aunt – she is a sweetheart but completely intimidating and I’ve been walking on eggshells the whole time I’ve been staying at her house. As much as I’m enjoying being here, it’ll be good to get back home. Tonight we have one last family dinner and then I head to the airport tomorrow morning.

The obsession with the iphone continues – I dreamed about it last night. I’m already thinking about what apps I’ll have to get as soon as I buy it (the facebook app is so much more impressive than the one for the BlackBerry, plus my brother introduced me to one I think called Shazam, which I *need*)… Maybe I’ll get it this weekend? I’d get it right now if I weren’t in Oregon… Plus I need to figure out how I get to keep my same phone number – do I cancel the old phone 1st or get the new phone 1st? Either way, there’s no going back – I’m getting it at some point, and soon! Eek!

Rawr! I can't believe I'll be losing another one of my BB msger friends to the iPhone! Although some have come back, others are gone for good...

I'm excited to see your pictures!
  • Ahhh I can't wait to see your Oregon pictures!!! Safe travels!
  • Can't wait to see those photos!
  • I've never been one to go for the fad, so the iPhone hasn't interested me. I have been loving my enV touch, though!
  • Can I just say that the "Shazam" app is frickin amazing! I swear I use that thing like 3 times a day!

I think if you go to ATT, they can transfer your number and then tell the other company you are canceling.

    Good Luck!
  • Shazam IS awesome! My brother let me try it out at the wedding... I was surprised it figured out the song over talking people!

Ok I'll go to AT&T first and see if they can help me out. I'm so antsy for it!

    Hey Ari,

Your life will change when you get an iPhone. Seriously. there's a ton of good apps and a ton of not so good ones. Shazam is great and you allso need to get Tweetie for Twitter. Flixter is a good one for Movies too. Let me know if you have any questions. Have a safe trip home.
  • Will have to get those apps for sure then. Is tweetie as good as socialscope? I mean, I guess you don't know what socialscope is like... But what sort of features does tweetie have?
  • I use Tweetie. It's a paid-for app, and there are probably free ones that do a similar job, but it's one that was recommended to me. It's great - has integration with Twitpic, automatically shortens urls, easy to RT and follow hashtags, you can follow chains of replies... love it.

To save you getting bombarded with comments from me (damn these timezones, so I'm sleeping when you reply!!) as for what you were saying yesterday about being worried you'll break it - I've dropped mine SCREEN FIRST loadsa times and it's fine. But I did buy a clip-on back from eBay, and I do have a cute case for it.

My assistant, on the other hand, has broken TWO iPhones so far. Still, despite the fact the screen is smashed to pieces, the touch-screen still works!!
  • I have heard good things about Tweetie, everyone seems to recommend it and from what you say, it sounds like what I've been using for my BB, so that's good.

Ah a case for my iphone is a must... Definitely. I'm too clumsy to risk it and even if it works with a cracked screen, I'd rather not chance it. Plus then it won't look pretty!

Going for a fancier geek device, hey? I'm just happy that my mobile makes phone calls. I'm not sure if it receives them! :p
    Keep having fun! :)
