So tired…

Posted by: curiousillusion on: August 13, 2009

I’m feeling exhausted.  I haven’t been sleeping my normal 8 hours every night (and I need my 8 hours) and it’s starting to wear on me – I nearly fell asleep during a lecture at work today.  Tonight I need to put the iPhone DOWN and go to bed at a reasonable hour (that being said, the iPhone was only reasonable for last night… my sleep schedule has been out of whack since before Oregon).   And for the record – yes, still in love with the iPhone.  There are some things that could be improved – I miss having a profile that I would set my phone to when I sleep so that I wouldn’t get email alerts, plus the blackberry was a lot more customizable when it came to basically everything… background, sounds, etc – but I wouldn’t change it for the world. :)

[Edited to add: oh my word.  I just tested out a new feature that my bank (the fabulous USAA) just rolled out - Deposit@Mobile.  You take a picture of both sides of a check and BAM, instant deposit into your bank account. Have I mentioned that I love my iPhone? Pure awesomeness!]

Meanwhile work is… weird.  The past 3 years I worked with the same people, my friends, and I was used to always having someone to sit next to, someone to talk to, someone to eat with… now I feel so alone. I mean, I’m getting to know people but it’s not the same.  Half the time I just feel awkward and dumb.

Then there’s working out – in that, I haven’t. I’m still doing okay on the eating healthy front but I haven’t worked out since last Monday – I was in Oregon (and I did hike a few times so that counts, right?) for 6 days and didn’t have time.  I wanted to go today after work but I was just so exhausted… I need to get back into the hang of it.  This weekend. I’ll start this weekend.

Plus I feel like I’m playing catch up – my google reader count is at 200… 200 posts of friends whose blogs I usually try to comment on.  I think I’m going to just clear the count and then start back up on commenting tomorrow.  Sorry to my friends, who I’ve been neglecting.  I always need a vacation from a vacation, you know?

Well, first of all, GOOD GOD! I wish Suntrust or NFCU did that Mobile Deposit thing... as far as I know, they don't. But that's super cool! I'm glad you're enjoying your iPhone (:

And second, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one slacking on workouts. I haven't run at all since Monday morning, and I feel so blahhh because of it! I need to get back on track and go run tonight! I feel so much stronger and healthy when I workout 4-5 times a week.
  • Well other banks might pick it up soon too! And yeah, I feel like such a slug and slacker by not going to the gym.
  • Well that's the bad thing about the iPhone... it's so easy to go to bed and half an hour later you're still having one last check of email or Twitter.

Good luck with the new job, I'm sure you'll be making friends in no time xx
  • Ha ha yeah but then again, I always used to have the same problem with my blackberry.

I'm sorry I'm not commenting on all the posts. I've fallen terribly behind on blogging altogether :( Trying to play catch up now!

And I just realized you used that phrase in the last paragraph of your post which is why it sounded all to familiar in my head...

Hiking counts. And it's ok to not gym-it during vaca. I've been sick and working way too much to gym it the past two weeks (sick one week and working this past week). So I'm a two week gym failure.

But yeah. I get the whole new job, outsider thing. I'm very outgoing and when I started my new job, I felt very out of place. I'm not sure why since I generally never feel that way. It took a while (again, it never really seemed to in the past) but I finally feel comfortable and have a small group of friends (work friends not outside friends) that I talk with and eat lunch with. I just felt so out of the loop. And even though everyone was perfectly nice, it was still awkward standing there not knowing what they were speaking about. And smiling along with them just makes it feel all the more awkward. For me at least. And I don't know why. But I think it was because it was such a small company and everyone already knew everyone. It was very much the new kid at school syndrome. But I was the new kid in a different department than the rest so it was harder because I wasn't with them all the time. But it gets better! And it will for you because people like you!

Oh and did the package arrive for you?
  • Yes the package did arrive, thanks so much and I'm sorry i didn't mention it sooner.

It's okay, I'm way behind on reading my friend's blogs too.

And yup, new kid syndrome is what it is. It sucks. I really do hope it gets better soon.

That whole check depositing thing seems incredibly convenient, but very sketchy. What stops you from using your iphone to deposit someone else's check?
  • I'm not sure how it works... I'm sure it works similarly to their deposit@home, which they've had for years - for that one you use a scanner to scan in the check. They've never had any problems for it.

USAA is a bank geared towards (and operated by, I believe) military officers. If ANY bank is going to be secure, it's going to be this one. Plus not anyone can be a member (only military and their dependents)... and not anyone can use this feature, I think I read that you have to be a member of the bank and also have either insurance with USAA or a credit card.

Oh and plus on the back of the check, when you endorse it, you have to put your account number... and I'm sure something matches up the name on the check to the name on the account...
