Charmed, I’m sure.

I have nothing to blog about.  Absolutely nothing to blog about.  And then I started writing a post, got a few paragraphs in, and wordpress spazzed out. So now I’m frustrated and extra cranky.

Anyway, I was GOING to find the old charm bracelet that I used to wear when I was in college and blog about the charms I used to have.  Mainly because, ever since getting my new charm bracelet, charms have been on my mind a lot.  Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find the charm bracelet.  It’s been ages since I’ve worn it, who knows what happened to it.

But, since I have nothing else to blog about, I shall blog about the old charm bracelet anyway.  Imagine, if you will… a charm bracelet from James Avery.  Some of the charms were from there, most were from random places… I think one was even from eBay.  I quit wearing it because a good chunk of the charms I think my boyfriend at the time gave me, or reminded me of him.  And I wouldn’t wear it now because it doesn’t in any way tell about my life, like I hope my new charm bracelet does (or rather, will).

Here are the charms that I remember it having:

  • a heart with I think 2 people kissing (I really hated the charm but the guy I was with gave it to me… it’s still up on the James Avery site, called “The Kiss”).
  • a little martini glass, with a pink gem to be the liquid, because I turned 21, which was obviously a big deal.
  • a clapperboard (google it, I tried to link to the wiki of it and that’s what made wordpress spaz so I quit), because my major was telecommunications and I was working at a tv station.
  • 2 movie tickets that said “admit 1″ on each, again because of the telecommunications major.
  • the Chinese symbol for happiness – I used to wear this as a necklace and then I had it soldered on to the bracelet.
  • I wanna say there was an ice skate charm, because I liked ice skating… although I quit ice skating at the end of high school.
  • I also wanna say that there was a ladybug charm on there, but I could just be making things up now.

I can’t remember what else there was.  I’m sure there was more.  But I give up.  The point is… wait, was there a point?  Oh forget it, my brain is officially fried.  Wish me better luck blogging tomorrow.

How about you, ladies… had any thing similar, a charm or a piece of jewelry, that represents who you were at a certain point in your life, but doesn’t anymore?

Day 11/30 of NaBloPoMo… huh?!

  • Oops. I mean I don't often wear bracelets or necklaces. That's what happens when you get distracted half way through writing a comment.
Thanks for all the lovely (much more coherant) comments you've left me lately!
  • Lol! Yeah I don't wear necklaces too often, or bracelets really (except for this charm bracelet, which I'm wearing all the time now). I go through phases in earrings... I'll get really into them and wear them all the time, and then stop.

But I just got some cute turkey earrings off Etsy that I can't wait to wear. And my collection of Christmas-themed earrings makes me happy. :)
  • I've never had a charm bracelet. I think they're cute but like you said, you change as you get older so I guess they go out of date. Earrings are more of my thing really, I don't often wear bracelets or earrings.

I get overly attached to some pieces of jewelry and tend to wear them non-stop until I get tired of it. My ex had given me this really pretty necklace with a triangular celtic knot that I wore for years. Since I moved out, I've been really into lotus flowers. I have a gorgeous necklace that I got on etsy that I've pretty much worn everyday since I got it.
  • Oooh I had a celtic knot (don't think it was triangular tho) that I used to wear all the time. I do the same as you - get overly attached to certain jewelry things and then get tired of them. I'm going to wear out my new earrings, juts watch.

I'd love to see the lotus flower necklace - sounds pretty!

Here's the link to my necklace - http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id...

It matches the only tattoo I have that I got after my ex and I separated - I like the symbolism of the lotus flower . . .

    Oh - and here's the gloves I'm making - http://www.twitpic.com/1vibn . . . wanna pair? I can mail them to you
  • Omg that necklace is so pretty. I'm tempted to get one myself!

And yes, omg I would love a pair of the gloves! So cute, you are so talented!
  • Yeah, sorry about that. Webhost was having all kinds of problems yesterday...and when I saw your tweet I was at bowling night, so I couldn't check it out. I'm actually going to be moving to another webhost in the next 4 weeks or so, which will hopefully help.
  • No worries, I just thought you'd like to know. :)
  • I've never really been that into jewelry. Maybe because I'm allergic to EVERYTHING. But I did have a jingly heart bracelet when I was little. I cherished it because my Dad gave it to me, and I didn't see him much, and missed him terribly. I also kind of loved it because it jingled and annoyed the spit out of everyone. :P
  • AWww that stinks being allergic. And jingly bracelets made me smile when I was a kid too. Actually they still make me smile.

So ... are you saying that you won't take charms that are like (or similar to) the ones you've had/described?
I think you should've continued, adding a bit of science fiction to your charm.
Like the charm that if you rubbed properly, would give you money to go get Starbucks. :)
  • That's what I am saying... been there, done that.

That would be a nice charm. Ooooh I want a Starbucks charm!
