On Friday the 13th… and leaves.

Okay funny note, I had the idea for this blog post as soon as I realized it was Friday the 13th.  And then I promptly forgot about it during the chaos that is every Friday.  But then, looking through Facebook status updates, someone was complaining about it being the 13th and I was like ah-ha!

Anyway, I’m never very happy on Friday the 13th.  Like, when I realized what day it was today, I felt that sense of dread.  No real reason why, I don’t know that I’ve ever had anything particularly life-shattering happen to me on a Friday the 13th before… but I still get that way.

So… today was not jinxed by the date. Well, unless you counting getting almost every single red light while driving down Westheimer.  That’s not annoying, at all.  *rolls eyes*

Meanwhile, I’ve keeping my eyes open for signs of Fall.  Texas seems to get Fall much later than everyone else, and only for a short while – we get a few weeks of cooler, nice weather and then it suddenly becomes winter.  The weather has still be in the high 70s, so I think the trees have been confused and aren’t sure what to do about the color of the leaves.  But, slowly, they’re starting to change colors and fall down:

treeThis is the tree that I parked under, and that dumped a TON of leaves on my car.  I like how you can see the colors slowly starting to change.

On Monday a cold front is supposed to blow through and the high is supposed to be in the upper 60s.  Maybe that’ll remind the trees what they’re supposed to be doing.

Day 13/30 of NaBloPoMo.. getting there!

  • I am so jealous of your weather, a cold front in the 60's! When we get a really deep cold front here it is sometimes below zero. :(
  • Below zero? Oh brrr we barely ever get below zero!
  • Oh man, I wished I lived in Texas. I wish it were still in the 70s! How cold does it typically get in the winter? New England is beautiful, but I am totally over the 8 degree winters.

The freebie fridays seem to be a hit. Everyone loves free stuff! When I first started doing them my boyfriend couldn't seem to understand why I get so many little packages, mostly of cereal and shampoo. I'm just afraid one day that I will have requested every free sample ever and there will be none left. Probably my biggest fear.
  • Um it gets to about freezing. That's it. And not for very long either. I don't think I'd survive in New England!

Ha ha I'm sure you'll always find another sample to get!
  • Ahhh, leaves. I miss leaves on tree. They are all on the ground up here... but thankfully they aren't covered with snow yet!
  • On the ground already?! Wow!
  • Quave
Well, some places just don't get seasons! :)
Autumn is my favourite season, but I don't get much of the beauty of it here in Brisbane. I often travel to see friends in Armidale, a few hours south of here, at around Easter time, perfect time for autumn. Anyway, I hope you get to enjoy fall soon! :)
    And take pics!!
  • Yes Texas doesn't get seasons sadly. Boo!
  • I love the composition on your picture! And you can finally see the leaves starting to turn in TX. Yay! Pretty pretty. :)
  • Ha ha I figured you'd like the composition!
