The Bay, the bag and the potentially bad day.

So I’ll confess… I was a bad meowmy.  I neglected to take my cat to the vet for 2 years.  Wait, 3 years?  Either way, it was a few years.  When I first got her, I was really good about taking her regularly, making sure she had all her shots… and then I became broke.  And I thought it was okay, and I had a friend who said she didn’t take her cat to get shots either… and then her cat got really sick and I figured, better safe than sorry.  Vet appointment it was.

But first… Bay can’t ride around town in any old carrier.  Baby needs a brand new bag:

baybagOkay, to tell you the truth, she didn’t get the bag just because of the vet visit.  When we moved here, she kind of used the plastic carrier she rode in as a toilet… and then I accidentally left it out in the rain.  It was kinda gross.  Plus it was always too small for her, so it was time for a new carrier anyways.

Oh and btw, she really liked her new carrier.  Last night I left it open and she kept crawling in to lay down.  But I’m sure the vet visit may have changed her mind.  There’s nothing like a car trip and a trip to the vet to make a cat stop liking something they used to like. Ha maybe I was wrong… she still seems to like laying in it!

Anyway… I was really worried about the vet visit.  I felt so bad the entire way there, knowing how much she would hate it.  Getting poked and prodded, being cooped up in her carrier, a car ride, and shots usually equal a very unhappy kitty.  But… the vet visit went well.  We went to a cat-only vet, which I’ve never done before… and I think it was the reason she was much better behaved at the vet than she usually is, as she didn’t hear or smell dogs (although we did hear quite a few cats sound like they were getting tortured). She got all her shots, a dose of preventative flea medication, and was told that she looked great.  She only growled once, and then she was perfectly fine and let them do everything they needed to – no problems whatsoever.

Day 14/30 of NaBloPoMo… not so bad!

  • Aw!! She's adorable. I'm glad the vet visit went well! Going to a cat-only vet is such a clever idea - I didn't even know those kinds of vets existed.
  • I know, I heard about them a while back and always wanted to go!
  • Aw! She's so cute! And I love the soft kitty carrier... Octavian has one of those hard ones and it is super awkward to carry. Maybe I need to invest in one of these.
  • Yes, a soft carrier is SO much easier to carry - I recommend. Unless Octavian is violent and will destroy it, which is possible.

I don't take my cat every year anymore...mainly because he's so big the vet fusses at me! Plus, he never goes outside, so i'm thinking he probably won't get anything!
  • Ha ha sorry to hear the vet fusses at you! My cat isn't that fat but she gets fussed at usually!
  • Your cat is adorable. I dread the next time I need to take my cat to the vet. He hasn't got any shots in 3 yrs. Oops.
  • Yeah I was worried about that since my cat hadn't had shots in ages either. Luckily it turned out well.
  • She's beautimus. I'm a bad Meowmy, too. My Kimchi Kitty is attacked by all sorts of bodily functions when we ride in the car, so it's just not our favorite. I need to take him. He's a few months overdo. :(
  • I'm glad the vet visit was non-traumatic. We worried about Moz when we took him, but he surprised us. He peed in my brand new car, lol, but he was good at the vet.

Maybe now that she's older, she knows that what's happening is a good thing for her. And well, she'll get the side-benefits of the protection the vet visit gives.
    Nice bag, by the way.
And good on Bay and you for being good to each other!
    :)
