Freedom again… and a new obsession.

First things first… I’m officially on winter break!!!  No work for the next 2 weeks… ahhh!  Not sure what I’m going to do though.  I’m still debating if I want to go to San Antonio on Monday.  I’m kind of not in the mood to spend money or drive all that way (3 hours each way).

Meanwhile, I have a new obsession.

lola bagThis camera bag.

Yes, it’s a camera bag.  Can you believe it?  It’s by a new company called Epiphanie, and they are starting a line of camera bags (that won’t actually ship til February, ack!) made to look like, well, nice.   Like a purse, like something you’d actually carry out with you out and about.  And I know I asked for a camera bag already for Christmas and if my parents ordered it, I’m stuck with that one because they don’t accept returns… but THIS camera bag looks like something I’d carry around everywhere.  Plus the bag’s name is Lola too… really!  It’s fate.

Sigh.  Can I get it?

Oh and my pic for today:

[18/24] Ready to go Something about this shot is bugging me but I can’t put my finger on it.

Remember back when I was debating on if I should send Christmas cards?  Yeah, I decided to make my own Christmas card postcards and they came in the other day.  I think I’m about done writing them (I only had about a dozen to send), and I mailed this batch this morning.  Yay for starting traditions… next year I’ll hopefully get them done a bit earlier!

  • As much work as Christmas cards are, I do enjoy sending them.
  • I love the christmas card postcards idea! Next year...
  • OK - I want that camera bag! Srsly, you've inspired me to get a new bag and strap. And yay! for homemade postcards.
  • I prefer the turquoise one. And it's not JUST a camera bag. Wallet/etc fits as well. Win.

That said, I got a camera/purse combo for Christmas when I learned these bags weren't coming out in time for Christmas. I couldn't wait. My work bag is falling apart as it is. That said, I'm probably getting one when I get my new personal camera around the same time that the bags are going to finally be available. I've been stalking them for awhile now!
  • Oh Ari! I love you for introducing me to this camera bag line because they are seriously beautiful! But now I want one too!!!
Oye, I guess owning a camera is like that, you always want something for it. I can't get over how awesome those bags are. I love my camera bag now, but it looks like a camera bag, not an awesome purse.
Good for you for sending cards! I actually did mine yesterday so we're in the same boat.
I agree with Nissanicole- I think the bells might be a little too blurry. Since the center of the photo is blurrry, it would be nice to have a clearer point of focus on the left side. I LOVE the composition and color of this pic though!
  • Yeah, the bag I asked for as a Christmas present still looks like a camera bag, instead of a cute purse. And I really want that cute purse one!

I did see that code for 15% off, that's why it's KILLING ME. I may cave and order it so that I can use the coupon... since they don't ship til February, I have until then to change my mind (I emailed and that's what they said). I just think it may be slightly hard to explain to my parents why I suddenly have ANOTHER camera bag. Can I just tell them it's a purse? :)
  • Lol! Yeah, tell them it's a purse. I remeber the other bag you showed and I think you're right, it looks like a really cute camera bag, but not as cool as a purse!
I've been going back and forth all day as to whether I can afford to buy it right now. I really need to save $$ for NYC but the $25 discount is so good that it's hurts to pass it up.
  • I caved and decided to go for it. I couldn't get over the $25 discount.

That being said, since it's apparently Texas based, I had to pay tax. Boo.

I'm excited for it now tho!
  • Just found out if you enter the code "SISTER" you get 15% off the bag if you're interested! Expires on Sunday.
  • I get what you're saying about the photo. What is the aperture? I think it's a little high. The problem is, you're not following the rule of thirds - think about it - the first bell is in focus, and the second is only partially in focus - therefore, you haven't filled up a nice third with something that's in focus.

So - I would suggest stopping down a little bit, closing the aperture a little. Honestly, this is a hard thing to get. We get excited to see that great depth of focus, that great bokeh, but sometimes it's just a few stops that rounds out an image.

I think you could have most of those bells in focus. Or, you could try allowing the first 1.5 to blur, while focusing on the later bells.

    Just suggestions! :D Keep shooting.
  • aah, the stylish camera bag.
    i want one.
i might just be able to afford the bag... if i give up on buying a camera.
  • That bag is definately something worth asking Santa for...Enjoy your break!
  • TotallyHeather
That bag is gorgeous! I saw it before I read what you wrote. And I thought it was too adorable.

I can't believe it's a camera bag! And named Lola! It's total fate. And you haaaaave to have it! It's a must!
  • That camera bag is gorgeous! I kind of want one just because.
  • Lucy
Wow that bag looks awesome, you cannot even tell it's a camera bag. I might need to get one at some point as I have to carry a huge handbag with my camera in it.
